Cogent and Level 3 peering backbone back up!

By | October 8, 2005

Cogent and Level 3 have come to a temporary agreement until November 9th to allow them to continue their peering agreement.

Fortunately for us this means no more site blackouts for half the web (At least until Nov 9th). I’m disgusted with how these two companies are handling the situation and the worst part is they still haven’t reached any kind of long term agreement to keep things going.

What is crummy about this whole situation is it’s timing in relation to the European union suggesting that to much of the internet is controlled by US agencies and companies and that more of it should be international. Wait a show the international community what great stewards we are Level 3 and Cogent!
