St. Patricks day.

In case you don’t know why St. Patricks day is celebrated… or you are bored sitting at work… shhh I will not tell… here are a couple of links with a good basic history of the holiday:

The symbol of shamrocks: An Irish tale tells of how Patrick used the three-leafed shamrock to explain the Trinity. He used it in his sermons to represent how the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit could all exist as separate elements of the same entity. His followers adopted the custom of wearing a shamrock on his feast day.

It really is some interesting stuff.  Holidays actually become more interesting when you learn a little more about why they exist, how they have changed (all holidays do to some extent), and what they might be developing into.   Tomorrow is the Annual Runnin O’ the Green in Jamestown.  A good Jamestown, ND twist on the holiday.
