Reviewing the ad policy

By | September 20, 2010

As you may or may not be aware, this site has an advertising policy.  When I launched the site in December of 2009 I came up with the policy.  I wanted to be clear for readers what I was trying to do with the site and why I felt intrusive advertising took away from it.

The policy reads as such:

I started this site with the typical blog ads. Google Adsense, Inlinks, etc. I have removed most ads from this site as they annoyed me. Ad revenue isn’t why I write this site. I write this site because I love reading and writing. I have kept minor adsense links in the newsfeed itself, but that is about it.

However, all links to Amazon are affiliate links and I will earn a small percentage of your purchase if you click through to Amazon from this site. If you like what you see here, please consider clicking through one of those Amazon links when making your next purchase there. Typically all Amazon links will be to books or sets of books. If you want to contribute more directly, you can use the link below to buy me a book from my Amazon wish list. Any income is used to purchase more books for reading then reviewing. I appreciate either. As stated on my Book Policy page, I do accept books for review. Please review that policy and then use the contact form on this site to contact me.

Actually in writing this I discovered I need to make a slight update to it.  I have no adsense links on the site anywhere.  Most links are either directly to the subject matter or Amazon affiliate links.  I rarely make any form of income from these, but the potential is there.  I have decided to stick with this policy as the site is about promoting my writing and my brand.  Even guest posts or contributing writers add to that.  I will review this again from time to time, but don’t anticipate changing this.
